Torbjörn Johansson

DevOps & Infrastructure Architect

Torbjörn is a DevOps and infrastructure architect with deep expertise in designing, securing and operating scalable platform solutions. He specialises in containerisation, cloud infrastructure and security, with hands-on experience across GCP, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code and identity management. He works in both implementation and advisory roles, helping organisations modernise their platforms, strengthen their security posture and build reliable, well-governed infrastructure.

Current focus

Torbjörn is currently working as Infrastructure and Cloud Architect with a major international retailer, leading the migration of the organisation’s core store management system to the cloud. The work covers infrastructure design in GCP using Terraform and OpenTofu, VPC networking, IAM governance and least privilege access models, SSO integration through Auth0 and Microsoft Entra ID, CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions and observability using Grafana and Prometheus. The assignment combines implementation and advisory responsibilities across multiple technical domains.

Background

Torbjörn served as Infrastructure Architect and Security Specialist for a healthcare software company over a two-year period, with ownership of the organisation’s IaaS, virtualisation and container platforms. A key focus was evolving the infrastructure towards a Kubernetes-based platform for containerised microservices, alongside the introduction of object-based storage for large-scale data volumes. Operating in a regulated healthcare environment with strict GDPR requirements, he also strengthened security through access management, encryption and secure tunnelling, and improved observability through ELK and Grafana.

At a specialist software company, Torbjörn contributed to a delivery to a government organisation in New Zealand, working on the security of public-facing infrastructure in an international project setting. The work covered alignment with strict requirements for communication protocols, data protection and server configuration, combining advisory and hands-on implementation. He supported the team in hardening their environment, addressing TLS configuration, certificate management and security remediation across the public-facing solution.

Earlier in his career, Torbjörn held several infrastructure roles within an international organisation operating across EMEA, building and maintaining the technical foundation for e-commerce, retail and partner channels. His responsibilities covered managing infrastructure for public-facing and internal systems, integrating platforms to support business processes and implementing automation to reduce manual work. The work combined hands-on infrastructure engineering with close collaboration with business stakeholders across the region.
