Ola Mattsson, Senior Consultant

Ola Mattsson

Senior Developer

Ola is a senior developer with long experience across backend, frontend and mobile platforms, with particular depth in C++ system development, system modernisation and integration. He has worked on both legacy system migration and greenfield development, and brings a structured approach to complex, long-running technical challenges in demanding production environments.

Current focus

Ola is currently working with a major international retailer across two parallel assignments. The first focuses on a business-critical system supporting store operations including logistics, sales, inventory and returns, where he is migrating core C++ functionality from OpenVMS to Linux and building a modern CMake-based build environment. The second focuses on a gateway solution connecting that system with internal and external systems, where he develops  MQTT-based messaging, REST APIs and Redis-based state management.

Competence areas

Backend: C, C++, Java, Python, Node.js, PHP
Frontend: Vue.js, HTML, CSS/SASS, Vaadin, GWT
Mobile: iOS, Swift, Objective-C++
Integration & messaging: MQTT, Solace, REST, SCIM, LDAP, JSON-RPC
Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis/Valkey, SQL
Build & CI: CMake, Conan, Maven, Git, GitHub Actions, Bamboo
Security: PKI, TLS, LDAP
ML & edge: TensorFlow, OpenCV, Raspberry Pi
Methods: Agile, Scrum, RUP

Background

Ola spent more than 15 years at a global manufacturer of food processing and packaging solutions, working on C++ applications for factory floor monitoring and production planning. He maintained and extended a planning board application through multiple hardware and operating system generations, including transitions from PowerPC to Intel and from QuickDraw to Quartz, and contributed to a major system rewrite replacing a legacy OpenVMS server with a Java-based J2EE platform.

At a data analysis software company, he worked on the web application layer of an analytical platform, developing data-driven components for dynamic presentation of complex analytical data, including a mobile proof of concept built on the platform’s REST API. The work was carried out in Java and Vaadin across more than three years.

In an earlier engagement, Ola worked as developer and application architect on a real-time flower analysis system for a horticultural technology company. The solution ran on Raspberry Pi hardware and combined camera control, image processing and a TensorFlow-based machine learning environment to identify defective flowers early in the production flow.
